Butyl Acrylate is an organic compound, a colorless liquid, which is the butyl ester of acrylic acid. Soluble in ethanol, ether, acetone, and other organic solvents. Practically insoluble in water, solubility in water at 20°C is 0.14 g/100 ml. It is widely used commercially as a precursor to Polybutylacrylate, which is used in paints, sealants, coatings, adhesives, fuels, textiles, plastics, and sealants.
Four Functions and Applications of Butyl Acrylate
1. Used to make synthetic resin, synthetic fiber, synthetic rubber, plastic, coating, adhesive, etc.
2. Used as monomers and organic synthesis intermediates for polymers and resins.
3. It is used for soft polymers and acts as an internal plasticizer in copolymers.
4. Used as a fiber, rubber, plastic, paint, adhesive, textile auxiliary, and as a leather and paper treatment agent.
