The production methods of MEK mainly include a one-step method and two-step methods:

  1. The one-step method directly reacts 1-butene with oxygen in the catalyst solution to generate MEK.
  2. The two-step method is that 1-butene is first hydrated to generate 2-butanol and then dehydrogenated to generate MEK again.

MEK most use in Adhesive which a proportion is 34%, and the second main use is Pu coating and a proportion is 19%. For other detail use please see the below picture:
